Process automation

Machinery and process automation is not an end in itself, but ultimately serves to optimise production processes. Every automation solution therefore has to be seamlessly integrated with both the established infrastructure and the existing processes.

Automation projects may, for instance, aim at:

  • Improving product quality
  • Achieving a more consistent product quality
  • Increasing the throughput capacity
  • Replacing assemblies for which spare parts are no longer available
  • Reducing labour costs
  • Relieving staff of hard physical or monotonous work

When processes that have so far been manually controlled are automated, it is often also necessary to purchase new online sensor elements. These may be required, e.g. for continuous moisture measurement after potato crisps have been deep-fried, to get an input value for the deep fryer control system; or for continuous measurement of the dry substance content in the sugar crystallisation process. Whatever the intention, process automation should always be accompanied by a thorough analysis of the existing production process so that this process will in future not only simply be automated rather than manual, but will, in addition, also be optimised wherever possible. This can significantly increase the efficiency of an automation project.

BMA Automation GmbH has many years of experience in the food and sugar industries, and the metal packaging sector. Our company structure provides an excellent basis. As an independent unit within a group of internationally active medium-sized companies, we are expert partners for your projects - on any scale and anywhere in the world. We will assist you, for instance, when individual items of machinery have to be upgraded to a new generation of control systems, or with automation requirements for complete process steps in food production or processing plants, sugar factories and sugar refineries. Numerous reference projects underscore our competence in this field.

Thanks to our extensive and specialised experience, we can quickly familiarise ourselves with the project tasks at hand. If requested, we can also rely on the services of the process engineers in the BMA Group, so that we can offer you a comprehensive solution that is tailored to your needs. As part of our service portfolio, we provide assistance with the development of control concepts and the necessary control points, and we design and deliver suitable sensors. The final automation concept is thus an integrated solution.
