Microwave measuring technology for determining dry substance content
The density / dry substance content of a product represents the central measured value for an optimum control in many processes. However, this value is often derived from other parameters, or the operator runs the plant ‘by instinct’.
Our sensor for dry substance content determination allows you to control your process in real time by a precise measured value.
The measuring system can be used for determining the dry substance content of any substance (dissolved or solid) in aqueous solution. Typical applications in the sugar industry are:
- Sugar solution (Brix)
- Milk of lime (Baumé)
- Molasses (dry substance content in %)
In other industries, different products can be measured, such as:
- Sewage sludge
- Food
- Building materials
The measuring system consists of a measuring probe and an analysing unit, the latter including the microwave measuring technique and a micro-computer. There are several measuring probes available:
- Pan probe without flushing device
- Pan probe with flushing device
- Pipe-installed probe
A memory tool can be optionally used for easy management of the calibration data stored in the unit. In this way the calibration data can be processed on a PC using a free standard software application.
